What if the butterfly had tried to stay a caterpillar? Imagine the struggle, angst, and grief. Instead, the caterpillar follows its original instructions to weave a cocoon, go inside, surrender itself to the mush that is the wise imago cell, and be transformed to emerge as a glorious butterfly. The caterpillar may not know what it will become, but it instinctively knows the next right step. When you follow the next aligned step before you, transformation can be as gentle and natural as the butterfly’s journey. It is in resistance to transformation that you invite pain, fatigue, and grief. That is not to say there is no grief in the imago stage. Turning to mush and surrendering to the “not knowing” is edgy. When you see the signs that transformation is afoot, however, try your hand at letting go and allowing shift. Loosen your grip. Allow the molecules to move and change. When you stir things up, you create room for change. Transformation isn’t always easy, but it is a potent and powerful way to align yourself to your true nature.
